Project Overview:

Cura Cocoa is a premium, small-batch cocoa butter brand focused on natural skincare. Founded by a holistic skincare enthusiast with Caribbean roots, the brand honors ancestral beauty rituals using pure, ethically sourced cocoa butter from Ghana and the Dominican Republic. Cura Cocoa blends tradition with modern wellness to deliver deep skin nourishment with minimalist ingredients and maximum results. Targeting eco-conscious millennial women (25–40), Cura Cocoa positions itself as a self-care essential—a luxurious yet affordable staple for skin hydration, stretch mark care, and glowing natural beauty.

Objective:

The goal of this project was to develop a complete brand identity and packaging system for Cura Cocoa, a conceptual cocoa butter–based skincare line. The brand needed to feel rooted in ancestral rituals while appealing to modern, eco-conscious consumers. The objective was to create a cohesive identity that communicates purity, heritage, and elevated simplicity across touchpoints such as logo, packaging, and social media.


Challenges:

Balancing tradition with modernity: Designing visuals that honored heritage and natural origins while feeling current in the clean beauty space.

  • Standing out in a saturated market: The skincare industry is full of minimalist, neutral brands. Cura Cocoa needed a distinct personality that set it apart without looking overdesigned.

  • Consistency across products: Packaging had to work for multiple formats (jars, tubes, sticks, pumps) while maintaining a unified look and brand story.

Design Process:

Research & Moodboarding – Studied competitors in natural skincare (e.g., Aesop, F. Miller, Golde) and explored cultural references tied to cocoa butter’s origins.

  • Brand Identity Development – Crafted the logo, typography system, and color palette. Neutral earthy tones were paired with modern serif and sans-serif typefaces to strike a balance between heritage and sophistication.

  • Packaging Exploration – Designed label systems for body butter, lip balm, lotion, face cream, and hand cream. Each featured clean layouts, botanical illustrations, and subtle textures.

  • Copywriting & Messaging – Wrote product copy that emphasized transparency, ritual, and natural care. Developed taglines such as “Rooted in Ritual. Powered by Nature.”

  • Digital Presence – Designed mockups of Instagram posts to showcase how the brand translates across platforms.

Outcome:

The final identity feels minimal yet soulful, with packaging that communicates both purity and heritage. Cura Cocoa’s look positions it as a premium clean beauty brand that resonates with millennial and Gen Z audiences who value sustainability and authenticity.
